Genesis Gives Back

Genesis at the Komen Race for the Cure

Team Genesis found yet another good reason to go take a hike. This time, we turned out for the Komen Race for the Cure, Saturday in Downtown Tyler. Some ran, some walked…all crossed the Finish line!

The annual Komen Race for the Cure raises significant funds and awareness for the fight against breast cancer, celebrates breast cancer survivorship and honors those who have lost their battle with the disease.

Genesis Rolls on With Meals on Wheels

What started as a Summer trial run with Meals on Wheels last year has turned into an ongoing weekly institution at Genesis. Meals on Wheels ensures that seniors have access to adequate nutrition even when family support, mobility and resources are lacking. It gives us another opportunity to give back to our community, and we enjoy the friendly visits every week.

2nd Annual Queso Cookoff Benefits PATH

2015 Genesis Queso CookoffClassy, yet cheesy — That’s how events played out at our 2nd annual charity Queso Cookoff, benefitting PATH, People Attempting to Help. All in all, it was a very Gouda experience.

PATH’s mission is to help the people of our community with emergency relief and empowerment programs through a small, diverse staff and an army of around 400 well-equipped volunteers.

Yesterday’s winners:

  • First Place: Mandy Jentes
  • Second Place: James Wansley
  • Third Place: Jamey Whitley

Backpack Meals Prep at the Food Bank

Genesis had a strong turnout to stuff backpacks at the East Texas Food Bank. This was an extended Genesis family event, with spouses and kids participating. In true Genesis software development fashion, we applied our efficiency process methods to the backpack assembly process and blew the previous record of 2,600 out of the water. We assembled 3,380 prepared meals to slip into low income students’ backpacks. In total, 13,000 meals were made for people in need in the East Texas area.
