GenWatch Release Notes

This GenWatch update is available at no charge for customers who are up-to-date on their maintenance and support agreement. For support questions or to check the current status of your support and maintenance agreement, please contact Genesis Customer Support.

Before installing on an ATIA-based system, the database will need to be updated. Genesis Support personnel will provide this service for customers who are up-to-date on their maintenance and support agreement. If applicable, please contact Support to schedule the update.

  • NEW Radio Reject Widget – Get an at-a-glance count of subscriber radio rejects
    • Filter by timeframe, agency, and reject reason, and set a threshold that changes the tile color
    • Click the count to open a detail list, with a link to the full Radio Rejects report
    • Refreshes every 15 seconds, and an “i” icon shows which resources are included
  • NEW Site Outage History Widget – Available on the Dashboard, Map, and Site Drilldown
    • Lists a site’s outages for a chosen date range (last 24 hours by default
    • Collapses to an outage count when sized small dynamically
  • NEW Outage Events in Progress Widget– Available on the Dashboard and Map

Quick Search

  • Added a Create Watch button that starts a Watch for the subscriber, talkgroup, or site being viewed

Reports

  • Column headers now wrap between words, and columns auto-size to their values once results load
  • Added the Include Conventional Calls, Include Data Calls, and Source Only parameters to the PTTs by Talkgroup by Site report
  • Added links on resource columns to open quick search details

Site Drilldown

  • The Site Drilldown “Add Widget” button is now a searchable widget picker with descriptions and previews

Improvements/Fixes

General

  • Improved how grids load saved column layouts, so they no longer reshuffle after loading
  • Resource side-by-side selectors now sort in a logical order (for example, by RFSS and then Site ID)
  • A user’s saved light or dark theme is now respected after an upgrade
  • GenWatch Web now waits for SQL Server to be available at startup instead of failing

Alias

  • Opening a place’s devices from the Map now shows a “Filtered by place” tag on the Devices tab that can be cleared
  • Agency import and export fixes:
    • Exports now include every agency
    • Rows whose subscriber or agency does not exist are highlighted before import
    • Ranges can be re-imported without issues
    • Security group imports now succeed on a system with no agencies
    • Imports now finish in a single pass, even for large files
  • Deleting a parent agency now deletes the parent along with its children
  • Agency changes now display without a page refresh
  • Adding a subscriber to an agency is now much faster and displays immediately
  • Devices not associated to a site are no longer reassigned to the place with the lowest ID

ATIA

  • Fixed duplicate Genesis-issued records for consoles in ATIA 2SQL

  • ATIA 2SQL no longer stops accepting CMAF connections when a client connects but never sends data

  • CGF 2SQL now reconnects more reliably when its connection to the Reader drops

Dashboard

  • New widgets are now added to the top-left corner of the dashboard (0,0)
  • Dashboard Replay improvements:
    • Images load faster with a progress indicator
    • Snapshots now display in date order and keep their aspect ratio when fit to the window
    • Custom widget titles now display in snapshots
    • Changing the default dashboard no longer shows an incorrect replay warning

  • Historical radio and group count KPIs are no longer inflated
  • KPI connection imports no longer fail when there are no rows to import

GenWatch Thick Client

GET

  • Fixed a GET queue issue that could corrupt the State.bin file when queue files are missing or corrupt

Map

  • Weather layers now display for all users by default
  • Site labels no longer cover the sites when the Map opens
  • Place labels now follow the Show Labels setting
  • Map widgets no longer flicker in the top-left corner while loading
  • Popups now point to subscriber and POI icons instead of covering them
  • A broken link in POI notes no longer breaks the Map
  • POI import now handles points of interest with the same name
  • Call line color changes now apply without a manual page refresh on a single tab
  • Subsite assignments made from the Map now persist

Reports

  • Report scheduling fixes:
    • Scheduled reports upgraded from iVista now keep all of their settings and run successfully
    • Report names with a backslash no longer break scheduled runs
    • CSV publishes no longer include the report header and logo
    • The publish format now displays correctly when editing a schedule
    • Deleted publish targets are now removed from schedules
  • Report export fixes:
    • Downloads now reflect column changes made in the browser
    • Adding a chart now updates the next download
    • Pivoted reports now match the browser
    • Custom template aggregations are now kept
    • Reports grouped by a visible column now download

  • Saving a new Watch with a trailing space in its name now clears the Save button
  • Editing a Watch created from packet details now keeps the packet detail selections
  • Stream columns now fill in correctly for packet detail selections
  • XLSX exports from the detail list now include all columns
  • The timestamp filter in the detail list now filters by date and time
  • Fixed a report link intermittently showing on custom Watch details
  • F1 help now works on the Watch editor

General

  • NEW ‘Watch’ Creation – Monitor activity of interest across GenWatch Web with powerful, customizable Watches.
    • Watches can notify users in the Stream, via email, or through GenWatch’s SNMP forwarding capabilities when specified criteria are met.
    • To streamline Watch creation, one-click Create Watch actions have been integrated into data grids throughout GenWatch Web, allowing users to create a Watch from the currently selected item or applied filters.
  • Dark mode is now the default theme in GenWatch Web.
  • Upload custom logos that replace the default logo across the application header, login screen, and report downloads.
  • Email Updates:
    • An email cooldown that is configurable. Behavior is set to send an initial immediate email and batch subsequent alerts into a single summary email sent at the end of the cooldown window.
    • Support for OAuth 2.0 authentication for Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace email accounts on GenWatch Web and GenWatch thick client Trigger module.
  • Support Entra authentication for logins.

Activity

  • Added the ability to quickly create a Watch from Activity.
    • From the Activity view, create a Watch using the currently selected Packet and Resource Filters.
    • From the Packet Details view, create a Watch using the selected packet values.

Dashboard

  • Introduced Dashboard Replay functionality:
    • Automatically capture PNG snapshots on a designated template every 15 minutes.
    • “View Dashboard Replay” page added, where users can browse, view, and download historical snapshots using date range filters, a scrollable timestamp list, and persistent zoom controls.
  • Enhanced the Snapshot functionality to allow dashboard snapshots to be taken on demand as a PNG.
  • Enhanced the “Add Widget” dropdown selection to allow search and show an instant preview fly-out panel that displays a sample image, title, and description when hovering over any widget option in the selection dropdown.
  • Added the ability to configure optional custom titles for any dashboard widget directly within its settings panel.
  • Added the ability to quickly create a Watch by right-clicking on specific activity on a grid-based widget.
  • Clicking the Connected Subscribers widget opens a detail list of the subscribers in the section of the donut chart.
  • Clicking the Connected System Calls widget opens a detail list of the calls involved in the duration rollups. Clarified the activity being shown in the labels and detail list header.
  • Added a KPI Chart plotting radio and group counts in the Default dashboard.
  • The Call Activity widget, previously available only on the Site Drilldown page, is now available as a Dashboard widget titled Talkgroup Call Activity. Displays call activity across all talkgroups or a custom selection of groups.

Faults

  • Added the ability to quickly create a Watch from one or more alarms or events of interest.
  • Added Subsite ID and Subsite Alias columns.
  • Persist column order and column selection per user.

Map

  • Introduced Points of Interest (POI):
    • Create a point of interest anywhere on the map to identify locations that should be marked for reference or informational purposes.
    • Import/export functionality for updating/adding bulk POIs.
    • Group points of interest by icon and alias the groups.
    • Toggle off and on the individual layers to focus relevant layers.
    • Added click-to-zoom functionality to navigate directly to a selected POI within a group.

Reports

  • NEW Site Registration Time by Subscriber Report – This report summarizes site registration sessions for subscribers whose cumulative registration time meets or exceeds the configured Minimum Registration Duration.
  • Added an “Include All Data Tab” parameter, which will generate a tab that consolidates the data across all tabs on the report. This functionality is available on the Radio Rejects, Subscriber Activity Detail, Conventional Subscriber Activity Details, and Talkgroup Activity Details reports.

SAM

  • Added the ability to quickly create a Watch from one or more alarms or events of interest.

Security

  • System administrators can now unlock users during an active login cooldown period from invalid login attempts.
  • Added a forced password reset workflow that requires new local users, or users whose passwords were reset by an administrator, to update their password upon their next login.

SNMP

  • Proactively log SNMP gaps that we identify during processing in the Event Viewer.

Stream

  • Added a dedicated “Watches” tab within the Stream module to view and manage existing watches.
